Today I have decided to share my research on my 4x great grandmother, Jane Gibson (nee Gray/ nee Carnes). She lived in a time where women were thought to be sometimes lesser than men, but she managed to push against these social values with her strong mind. My great uncle was called Harold Hunter, but was known by many other names, to many people. I had a lot of time for my uncle Harold, as he was a very funny, caring and genuine man. He was always able to make everyone and anyone laugh, and could easily lighten anybody’s mood if they were feeling down. I miss going to visit him, listening to his stories and laughing at his jokes. Today I have decided to share what I know about my great grandfather, William Hunter, who was more commonly known as Bill. I never met him, but I have always thought that I would have gotten on well with him. Luckily I have photographs, facts and stories about him, so I do feel like I know him quite well.
My great uncle was called William Cecil Hunter, but was more commonly known as Cec. I have heard many many stories about him and his unmatchable sense of humour, kindness and generosity. He was known and loved by many people. It is such a shame that I never was able to meet him.
