Research: Jane Gibson (nee Gray/Carnes)

Today I have decided to share my research on my 4x great grandmother, Jane Gibson (nee Gray/ nee Carnes). She lived in a time where women were thought to be sometimes lesser than men, but she managed to push against these social values with her strong mind. She was the keeper of a dwelling house, and seemed to have earned her own money for herself and family. Read her full story here!

Research: John Hunter

Today I have decided to share my research on my 3x great grandfather John Hunter. He was an agricultural labourer from Burton Pidsea in East Yorkshire, England. Not a lot is known about John, but I believe him to have been a very hard working man who had to look after his wife and 10 children. Read his story here!

Research: Harold Hunter

My great uncle was called Harold Hunter, but was known by many other names, to many people. I had a lot of time for my uncle Harold, as he was a very funny, caring and genuine man. He was always able to make everyone and anyone laugh, and could easily lighten anybody’s mood if they were feeling down. I miss going to visit him, listening to his stories and laughing at his jokes. He will always be remembered and missed by both family and friends. Read his full story here!
